For those wishing to pay their respects, Grant Stout’s funeral will take place on Friday 8th July , 2.45 pm at Dundee Crematorium. Followed by a reception at Mayfield Clubhouse, for refreshments.
Do you fancy being the man in the middle, have you always admired the zebra stripes? Do you have Hyde like a Rhino, an obsession with whistles or do you long for some kind of authority?

A word on our referees.
Dundee Rugby is very proud of the Referees to come out of their ranks, with the most notable in recent years being Neil “Paddy Binman” Paterson. Paddy has been a regular in the RABO pro 12 League and World Sevens Series to name a few career highlights and is one of Scotland’s finest referees.
The crown is proud of all it’s exports and Paddy is at the forefront, representing Dundee HSFP at the highest Level. So never mind Nigel Owens, could you be the next binman?
Following almost exactly in his footsteps, is Davie Sutherland, who is also a former Dundee Player and Dental School graduate. Davie can be seen refereeing in the National Leagues and hopefully will make the step up to the premiership next year.
It is with great sadness that we have to report the recent passing of Grant Stout.
Grant attended the High School of Dundee, where he excelled at most sporting activities, particularly athletics and rugby. He went on to become a valued member of the FP Rugby Club, playing mainly at scrum-half but with the ability to slot in to most positions in the back line – even occasionally in the back row of the scrum! Off the field, he served as Rugby Club Treasurer for a spell, and he was also a founder member of the ‘Shankers’ golfing society.
Although small in stature, Grant had the heart of lion and played rugby with the attitude and confidence of someone twice his size. Never one to shirk a tackle, his bravery on the field was matched, in recent years, by the way he faced up to the illness which cruelly overcame him.
Grant’s sister, Gail, has also been a great supporter of the Club over the years and our sincere condolences go out to her, and of course to all of Grant’s family and friends.
With the upcoming season’s fixture list recently released, and soon to be published on the club website, we thought it would be timely to remind all followers of Dundee rugby of the pre-season schedule.
Dundee Rugby Kicks off their preseasons campaign with an easy fixture against domestic treble winners Heriots RFC on the 6th August 2016! Dundee are sure to register a victory, due to their mental advantage, with half of the squad being ex Dundee men. Look out Big Red, Future, Addie and Grenade (if selected).
Next up is the much anticipated trip to Newcastle to face Morpeth RFC on the weekend of the 13th August 2016. More on this trip to follow below….

Along with other exciting changes for next season, Dundee Rugby has made another big summer signing.
Dundee’s own Ed Woodward (Gav Robertson) has negotiated a kit deal, and the suppliers for season 2016/17 will be none other than Mizuno.
Arguable rugby’s biggest merchadisers, in the 90’s, the Japanese firm is forcing it’s way back into the Scottish Rugby Arena and will be supporting Dundee Rugby.
It’s fair to say that the new kit is looking great and all the playing members are looking forward to it’s arrival. Here’s a preview of what to expect.
Some of you may well be asking, why would the modern rugby player have/want a gilet, even the most metrosexual of squad members like Ronan Joy surely can’t be keen on that?
The answer is of course that JJ styles himself as a sort of Tim Sherwood look.
In other news, in an attempt to squeeze in some additional training, some of the Dundee Squad where seen in the glasgow area partaking in a sort of high altitute contact drill.
This may or may not have been part of Baggady Bill’s stagg, where he also thought he was at the Grammy’s with three costume changes.
The push for Stuart Barlow to become AU president has slowed recently, forcing Beez to consider what his key policies will be.
1. Blue Lagoon’s every weekend
2. Guest Barmaid last Friday of Every month
3. Free shots for participants in Clubhouse Salt Ring Wrestling
If you think this is the right direction for the clubhouse, get behind Beez, if not throw your hat in the ring!
Pre-Season and S&C update:
One month count down to the start of pre-season and the anticipation is building. Nerves and excitement are evident throughout the squad, as coach Sangster has put a fat/lazy embargo on each and every jersey on offer in 2016/17.
Could this put the nail in Keg’s coffin? Will Daz, Danny and Regi manage to shift the wedding cake in time for the new season? Will Baz be able to break through the 100KG squat barrier he has been fighting so hard to smash?
S&C training continues to thrive both at the “bear pit” in Gyms around Tayside & Angus. For a program, please contact any playing committee member (except Ken Andrew)
More Rumour Mill:
Have the new committee managed to deliver on pre AGM manifesto promises and woo a Vincent Tan style investor to bring in big names to the playing squad and keep last year’s stars at Mayfield? Imagine big Vincent and Gerry in the grand stand on a match day!
News of new recruits is circling social media, potential returnee the moose has been spotted putting in the hard yards on the treadmill, in his Dundee kit, in preparation. Who else is incoming? If you know of anyone keen to join on the playing side, please contact Coach Sangster.
Burt & Pedro on the move? Callum Bowie and Pedro Redmayne have been spotted donning other jerseys in the off season. Which would be more punishable, in the always just, end of season court?
New Media on offer?:
The hype has started and our new committee are keen to capitalise on it. As part of an older generation of tech savy “silver surfers”, whispers have started that there will be a new type of media will be available to Dundee Rugby Club Members. Part of the build-up for next season may include a weekly pod cast, with player interviews and banging tunes throughout pre-season.
Who would you like to hear interviewed first on the airwaves?
While this is mere speculation, what can be assured is further improvements to the website. All sensible suggestions will be considered. Don’t bother Burtle!
Gav Robertson has started the frenzy early this year, with new kit on order for next year. So get in shape and get your sizes for Hoodie, T-shirt, Track pants, gym shorts and match shorts to Gav, email firstname.lastname@example.org
For those unsure of the importance of this news, “Kit day” ranks with players alongside Birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas day.
BFP did not gather the right momemtum, but what about Baz for AU President? #BFAUP
