Well after a wee break, this week we see the return of TFI Friday™ falling this week on the 1st March. I think this maybe the morning you wake up and shout rabbits 3 times while turning your head around 360 deg. Good luck with that but please ask your Dr if its OK to do and please read my disclaimer…..its in the small print under T&C’s. There will be wine to guess in the world wide ever popular, “guess the wine competition” but it will be a Merlot from Chile….. sometimes is! The cheese usually a cheddar, will be from a Country or a region of our neighbouring country! Could be one of the last times we have French cheese of course!! OR….. Italian wine BTW…… (Stop it now ED) Oh there will also be FREE nibbles and the bar will open at 5.34pm. Allow a bit more time if you are travelling from Montrose.
Rugby. Back in league business this week with the visit of Musselburgh RFC who are quite a bit in front of us position wise 7th to our 12th place. It wouldn’t do our chances any harm if we won this one! (Always the master of the understatement. ED) The mighty Titans also host Musselburgh both games KO at 3pm. We have a full lunch club so the clubhouse will be bouncing after the game. Come along and join in the fun.
Hope you have a great Rugby weekend.
Tartan Touch in Dundee will be available this year! Dundee High Rugby in conjunction with our collaboration partners Dundee Morgan RFC. Keep an eye on Twitter @Tartan_Touch or at www.tartantouch.org for full information, session times and prices. Rugby in Dundee is changing come and be part of it.
The friendly scheduled for this afternoon at Stewart’s Melville has been called off
TFI Friday takes a little break due to the 6 Nations and related sporting alternatives including tennis, skiing, tennis holidays and other pursuits including tennis and skiing both in the UK and sur la continent. So, the next planned TFI Friday spectacular is Friday the 1st March 2019.
Rugby. The firsts have a friendly against Stew Mel in Edinburgh next Sat 16th Feb. Probably a 2.30pm KO but please check before setting out. The next league game is Sat 2nd March at Mayfield v Musselburgh RFC.
The annual sell out 6 Nations Lunch in Edinburgh at the Royal Scots Club was a great success. Great to have Gordon Hamilton speak so passionately to us about his international career and his son Patricks time at Dundee. Next year will be a bit special as we celebrate 140 years of the Rugby Club.
We hope you enjoy the rest of the 6 Nations starting with a win v France next week and look forward to seeing you at a TFI Friday soon.
Another great lunch at the Royal Scots Club prior to the Scotland v Ireland game at Murrayfield. Another sell out lunch for the 11th year in a row. The speaker on this occasion was the talented Gordon Hamilton who played 10 times for Ireland. He was very entertaining and it was great to listen to his recollections of his rugby career. He thanked the Club for looking after his son Patrick while at Dundee University and played for us which was heartfelt and welcome. A great cross section of supporters, members and sponsors enjoyed a good lunch and of course, each others company. We look forward to doing it all again next year which coincides with the 140th anniversary of the Rugby Club. Something special is planned so book up early….its always sold out! Thanks to all who support this lunch and all other events for the Rugby Club.
Last weeks wine was a stonker! A 14 % full bodied Italian cracker aka Sophie Loren! The cheese was a Scottish extra mature aka Ken A who incidentally won last weeks wine in a play off with a well known medic and therefore supplies this weeks vino contribution. The bar opens at the popular time of 5.33pm as the roadworks on Strathearn Rd have moved to Claypotts Rd. There will be FREE nibbles as tradition requires.
No Club Rugby this week as we are in 6 Nations mode. Scotland v Ireland at Murrayfield and a 2.15pm KO. Those going to lunch at the Royal Scots Club on Sat gather at 8.15 for a prompt 8.30 am bus journey. lunch has been sold out for months and this is the 11th year we have done it.
The Clubhouse is not open on Sat as everyone is in Edinburgh.
Next Sat 16th we have a friendly game v Stew Mel in Edinburgh. Watch the website for details.
C’mon Scotland we can do it.
