September Update

News Letter

Senior Men’s Rugby

We are happy to say that we have had over 50 players training regularly in anticipation of the new season.

With a new coaching team of Alan Brown and Andrew Hamilton, we are excited that Ian Robertson is staying on for another year and club legend Dougie Gray has come into the coaching set up.

We have a whole host of new players joining this year and the squad looks stronger than ever, for details on who has signed up, why not have a look on our facebook page.

Plenty of players are available to be sponsored, so if you would like to support a player please contact us and we will be happy to give you all the information you need.

We also now have our fixtures, so we hope you will be allowed to join us at Mayfield & Alloway Place soon.

Senior Women

Dundee women are developing their squad going from strength to strength having started with a handful of key players now regularly attracting around 20 girls a session. This season the ladies have been placed in the league and now have a full list of fixtures, which is very exciting. They have recruited many new players over the lockdown months with a mixture of newbies and experience coming in. Continuing their roles from last year, Gary Mathieson remains head coach with Grant Thomson continuing as backs coach. An addition to the coaching team brings in Julian D’aeth to bring the forwards together. They now train twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.

Dundee Rugby – S1-S6

All Dundee Rugby Juniors boys and girls have been back at training at Alloway Place and are eagerly anticipating the SRU announcement of what games will be played this season.

We have strength and depth in all single age group teams and we are proud to have Girls teams at U18 and U16 this year.

In the past two years the Boys U18 team have produced Senior rugby players: James Shellard, Owen Foster, Ryan Docherty, Matt Clarke, Aron Guild, Angus Brown, Ross Stevenson, Aiden Speedy, Luke Olivier, Ben Fleming. Some are now off to University, but, this year will see Moby Ogunlaja come of age and we have a full U18 squad again this year with more lads turning 17 and 18 throughout the year.

This is the sort of progression we love to see!

Dundee Eagles L1-L7-

Eagles Soared again this season for the first time on Sunday 23rd  August 2020 and we had over 100 kids down at Mayfield, including several L1s down for their first session. All Parents and Kids were brilliant at following Covid Protocols and we are delighted they are back!

Club Merger

As you know we are looking to merge Morgan and DHSFP together as one club for Season 21/22. A lot of work is going on in the background at the moment to make this a reality. We want to ensure that all of our respective membership is fully aware of what is happening and if you want any info please contact either committee.

One exciting development is members from each facit of the club are meeting to discuss the rebranding. Information on this process will be communicated from representatives from each section of the club and we can’t wait to share our ideas.

Departing Committee Members

We would like to express our gratitude to all of the departing committee members which include Gerry Tosh, Ken Andrew, Robin Lunn etc. We are looking to mark their contribution with a fitting tribute and night of celebration. With the current restrictions this hasn’t been possible on the scale we would want, but we are looking to hold an suitable event in the near future. So look out for a day in the diary.
