Halloween P-A-R-T-Y, because I gotta!

Get it in the Diary, Social Sec Ronan Joy proudly presents the annual Mayfield Fright Night and Halloween Party.

Taking place at the Mayfield Clubhouse on 28th Oct 2017, after both 1st XV and Titans play Musselburgh, get it in the Diary!

The Host Ronan will have more details on the format of the night (including some really fun games), but rumours are the team with the worst outfits (1st XV or Titans) overall will have a forfeit.

Hopefully Broonie won’t wear that old Batman costume again…….

Beer Pong Round Up

New Season and New Social Calendar!

Ronan at last night’s event

This year we have a new social sec, the sultan of skite, the master of disaster and the sergeant of sesh, our own little Marcus Rojo.

The festivities started with the age old tradition of debutants lungs, for Hammy and the Fairweather twins (now old enough to have a drink). This was to have a profound effect on young Ryan later on in the evening.

Hard to explain

Then onto our beach themed beer pong championship. It’s fair to say that this was a bit more like Arbroath Beach than Miami, but hey you can’t have it all.

An array of hopeful challengers stepped up to the ochey, in teams of two, facing off for the right to compete in the final, for the coveted inaugural beer pong trophy.

The Championship table, no health and safety concerns here………

The 30 enthusiastic competitors whittled down to two teams who fought out a grueling final match.

Redmayne unable to participate in the afternoon, but full of vigor in the evening.

Christy & Shaun, (Team Snape &  Weasley), faced

Geo & Tony (The Brains Trust) in a full cup final. This went down to the final cup each with Snape & Weasley emerging victorious.

Remember Tony & Geo, L is for Love

Here’s more snaps from the championship.

Van Wilder Party Liason, DHSFP

The social secretary is a position coveted by many, and performed well by few.

He who controls the social side, controls the mood of the club.

Last year Owen Dyer was about as much use as his adored Arsene Wenger and apparently a plane has been chartered displaying a “crog out” banner to fly over Mayfield during the AGM.

Who will rise from the ashes like a Van Wilder Pheonix from the flames and lead the social calendar back to glory!?

Look no further for a new appointment is on the horizon, working tirelessly in the background (apparently with a great sand guy for a beach party). This club member is hungry for recognition and keen to take on a bigger role at the club and is really looking forward to working in close proximity to Homer.

We should salute this brave young buck. Let’s see who it is at the AGM.

You Shall go to the Ball

Spring has sprung and the sevens season has begun. That means its almost time for the annual end of year Ball. Although there are still two fixtures to fulfil the votes have been cast and the end of season awards are ready to be distributed.

Touching me, touching you! Cross club tourney and Ceilidh!

We know it’s only November and talk of Christmas at this time of year effects people one of two ways:

But, we have already started planning for the Xmas season and here’s a date for the diaries.

On the 28th December 2016 Dundee Rugby will be hosting the first annual touch competition with our friendly neighbors Harris FP.

This will be hosted at Mayfield at 2pm with refreshments and Christmas libations available in the clubhouse after the fiercely contested competition.

The format of the competition will depend on numbers, and we would love anyone who fancies a game to come down (Men, Women and even retired older players like Davie Mason).

Hoppy doing some touching

Please note, a referee will be in place to keep the rivalry friendly and stop any over zealous touching from the likes of Hoppy!

It’s undecided which teams several cross club warriors will play for?

The Specimen
Richie knows what’s good for him

Will Jack Reavley wear the crown, will Richie McIvor go back to his routes, who will Phil Yeaman represent?

Woody, when he heard that he’d be back at Mayfield

One things for sure, Harris can keep Woody!

After the game there will be a Ceilidh, with the Stathmore Ceilidh Band, at the Invergowrie Town Hall.

The event starts at 7.30pm and goes on till Midnight. Tickets are £10 per head (even if you have nothing in your head ,you still have to pay). Your ticket will also entitle you to a braw feed.  The event is also BYOB which will suit the fiscal conservatives from both clubs (That’s Henry sorted then).

With various raffle prizes and games throughout the evening it should be an excellent night, and we hope to see as many as you at the event as possible.

Tickets will be available on the night, but it would be great if we can get an idea of numbers before, so that we know how many dancers will need fed. This event is the first to be supported by both clubs so lets make it a cracker. Contact neildymock84@hotmail.co.uk or grahamhopkins90@gmail.com to declare your attendance.
