Gerry’s April Update

President ToshHola from sunny Costa Broughty Ferry.  I suspect like me you are in some state of lockdown and are now expert in social distancing! Probably as expert in Skype, Zoom and messenger as I am? My own DIY skills are now as good as they ever were!  My gardening expertise honed to perfection and entering the Dundee in bloom competition in the amateur category.  My cooking skills almost Michelin star quality and I have been compared, by the current Mrs T, to Gordon Ramsay, at least swearing as much as he does!

Rugby has rather taken a back seat recently, (quite rightly) as we all have more important, pressing issues to deal with.  The Rugby Club are very conscious of all our family priorities.  We can of course continue to plan for when we can get back to normal or what will become the new normal.  Those of you that follow the Clubs Facebook page and Website will know that Social Media continues at some pace with quizzes, videos of personal training and much else.

We are in the middle of planning for the AGM and more on this as we get it.  We have a great coaching team in place for next season as we plan our campaign in Nat 1 again and with a few new faces on committee to take our Club forward.

What can you do to help I hear you say?  Well, you can volunteer to do a wee job for the Club as we get back to business. There are many jobs that need doing so just get in touch! If you are a player get your sponsorship sorted early.  If you are a member sort out your membership a soon as you get the notice.  If you are a great supporter, please keep that support coming.  If you are a sponsor, many thanks for your continued support through that sponsorship and please keep that going. If you are a lottery winner and are looking to divest your self of some dosh?  I can help you!

We are planning to be in good shape as a club when this emergency is over so we can hit the ground running. This is just as important at our collaboration partners Dundee Morgan who are very much a part of our vision for Rugby in Dundee.  Our two junior sections, Dundee Eagles (P1 – P7) and Dundee Rugby Juniors (S1 – U18) are even more important as they are the future of Rugby in Dundee. Not forgetting for a minute our girls and ladies Rugby.

Please keep healthy and stay safe. Please keep following the social distancing rules and by so doing protect our fabulous NHS.
