Let’s go round again! – AGM Report 2019

It was Dundee High Rugby’s 139th AGM last week at Mayfield. As one wag said, a few attendees there looked like they had been to them all…

First things first though! Fraser McKay was re-elected as Club Captain for a 2nd season. Well done Fraser, and well done all the players and coaches for turning round the second half of last season and finishing a creditable 9th in National One last season, after underperforming up to the Christmas break.

Clubmen of the Year was for the first time ever a joint award, as the judging panel could not split coaches Ian Robertson and Gary Mathieson! Congratulations to them both, a very well deserved recognition for the hundreds of hours (and sweary words!) put in by both of them over the season!

The average age of the Dundee-centric Average White Band is 73. (Fake news! 98% of statistics are made up on the spot!) The average age of the Dundee High Rugby committee can’t now be far behind (with a couple of notable exceptions!) as the current Committee were voted in again almost en bloc! A couple of changes though to freshen the team up.
Fraser Clarkson’s non-stop overseas touring commitments unfortunately means he can’t continue for another year, and our Treasurer Kirstin McCarle is also stepping down due to an ever increasing work load. Many thanks to them both for all their hard work. Donald Brown was appointed as Treasurer in Kirstin’s place, and a very warm welcome to him.

Director of Rugby Colin Sangster rounded off the proceedings with an update on the Club’s vital one-club Vision project. Many thanks to all those attending, roll on next season…
